ADHD Coaching

ADHD coaching is practical, forward-looking support for the everyday mechanics of living with ADHD: starting tasks, planning time, organizing work and home life, following through, and building systems that work with your brain rather than against it. It is not a substitute for therapy or assessment — it is a complement to them, focused on strategies and habits rather than on processing the past.

People seek ADHD coaching for many reasons: a recent diagnosis and the question “now what?”, school or work performance that does not match their ability, chronic disorganization, or years of workarounds that have stopped working. We support coaching for all of these reasons.

What coaching involves

  • Collaborative sessions focused on your real week — your courses, your job, your household
  • Concrete systems: planning routines, task breakdown, environment design, accountability structures
  • Troubleshooting without shame when a system fails — the system gets redesigned, not blamed on you

Who offers ADHD coaching

Cost and first step

ADHD coaching costs $200–$300 per session, depending on the practitioner. The first step is a free initial consultation before you commit to anything.

ADHD coaching at Silm Centre for Mental Health is provided by registered clinicians and billed as psychotherapy, which means it is often covered by extended health benefits plans. Coverage varies by plan and by clinician type — we can help you check what to ask your insurer.

Common questions

How is coaching different from therapy?

Therapy works with emotions, patterns, and history; coaching works on practical systems and follow-through in daily life. Many people do both — sometimes with the same clinician, sometimes with different ones.

Do I need an ADHD diagnosis to get coaching?

No formal diagnosis is required to start. If you are wondering whether you have ADHD, an ADHD assessment can answer that question properly — coaching can begin before, during, or after.

Is coaching available for teenagers?

Yes, several of our coaches work with adolescents as well as adults, including support around school organization and routines.
