Meet Yvanna

YVANNA (IWONA) ZAKRZEWSKI

Yvanna is a Master’s-level practicum student currently engaged in practical training under the supervision of Dr. Taslim as she pursues her Master of Psychology at Adler Graduate Professional School. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto, conferred in 2009. Within the Silm Centre for Mental Health, Yvanna contributes to psychotherapeutic interventions and supports psychodiagnostics and psychoeducational assessments.

Employing an integrative, culturally adapted, and trauma-informed approach, she addresses a diverse spectrum of mental health challenges. Yvanna’s therapeutic orientation is grounded in Cognitive-Behavioural techniques, with an incorporation of strategies derived from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Furthermore, trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), she incorporates mindfulness-based strategies into her approach.

Her professional focus is centered on working with adolescents and adults. Yvanna is fluent in Polish and possesses a basic proficiency in Spanish.
